Thanks to Windows Toward the World for my Kreativ Blogger award, i. e., this:

Now I must list seven things I like, which I do in no particular order.

    1. Books. The way they feel, the way they smell, the wonderful words they can contain. And like Jo March, to go with books I like

    2. Apples — old-fashioned ones like winesap and rome beauty and the little mealy green one called a June apple. “The June Apple” is also the name of an old fiddle. I found these lyrics, though we always sang the verse below to “Cindy,” and it was Cindy who’d take the bite.

Wish I was a june apple
    Hanging on a tree
    Everytime my true love pass
    Take a bite of me
Take a bite of me my love
    Take a bite of me
    Everytime my true love pass
    take a bite of me.

    3. Early mornings, the sunrise, the dawn birdsong, the absence of industrial hum. It’s a great time to read.

    4. Writing, poetry best of all. When it’s going, there’s no bigger thrill.

    5. The smell of fresh-turned earth in spring

    6. The smell of black locust blooms and honeysuckle

    7. The smell of new-mown hay

    Golly. That’s seven already.

Seven bloggers? I give the award, do the meme if you like folks.

What I'm Doing...

  • Drizzle is a miserable word. The heavens lower, my mood is dour. A little spring and I would sing. The sun would turn me carefree as a bird. 1 day ago
  • I open the back door and the wren flies at shin level. Is she nesting on the porch? Our cats are old but not that old. 3 days ago
  • The dark spot high in the cherry swells like a lung, fanned wings, fanned tail, shrinks and resolves into a common grackle. 4 days ago
