MOSAIC
The Mosaic Poets formed in 2000 as a continuation of a YMCA Writers Voice master class in poetry hosted by the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning and mentored by James Baker Hall. In addition to meeting every other Wednesday for critiquing sessions, individually and as a group we have
· given readings in several well-known local venues, such as the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning (Lexington), The Kentucky Coffee Tree Café (Frankfort), and The Jazz Factory (Louisville)
· served as “house poets” for Fauntleroy’s Café in Lexington
· served as judges for annual contests of the Kentucky Junior History Society, the Green River Writers, and the Kentucky State Poetry Society
· published poetry in a variety of anthologies, magazines, and chapbooks
· received grants and scholarships to prestigious conferences
· received advanced degrees in creative writing and taught creative writing at the University of Kentucky
· won prizes such as the Betty Gabehart, the Leadingham, and the Green River Writers (several categories)
· given writing workshops at local venues, such as the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning, the Annual Meeting of the Kentucky State Poetry Society, and the Eastern Kentucky Summer Writers Conference
Mosaic members serve (or have served) as officers and on the boards of the Kentucky Arts Council, the Kentucky Women Writers Conference, the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning, The Kentucky State Poetry Society, and Green River Writers.
