Shameless Self Promotion

I’ve had several online publications over the last month and I thought maybe I’d just mention them again and ask you all to go read and also explore the magazines in which they appear.

Most recently, my poem “Clockwork” is posted at Referential Magazine, along with an illustration done by my son, Tom C. Williams. Tom and I have collaborated before on a Day of the Dead mixed media piece based on my poem “Relics,” and I hope we’ll do so again in future.

Referential is an interesting site in that it asks folk to react to other works:

At Referential Magazine we will be nesting a site that builds from one piece of writing (be it prose or poetry). From that piece we want other artists to submit referential material. This material could be visual, auditory, written etc. We expect this project to evolve the longer it exists. We look forward to hearing from you.

I have two poems up in Hamilton Stone Review # 22, “Theosophy” and “Reflection.” These are a couple of my own favorite poems, especially “Theosophy,” which I personally consider one of my most successful uses of form. HSR poetry editor, Roger Mitchell, said they seem to make a pair and so they do.

At Soundzine, my poem “Lines Written by the Poet on her 65th Birthday” is up with a podcast of my reading. I love the illustration they found to go with the poem. It’s a trifecta (forgive me for the allusion) at Soundzine, words, sound, and art.

I’m real pleased with my interview on Woodrat Podcast # 25, in part because it gave me a chance to read and talk about my online chapbook, Firing on Six Cylinders

Dave Bonta does a Woodrat Podcast about once a week and he has interviewed a number of fascinating poets, naturalists, and artists. Check out the whole series.

And I am just a die-hard fan of The Dead Mule School of Southern Literature. Published in The South, USA, the Mule has been publishing poetry, fiction, and essays since 1995. It’s a place where people remember snake doctors and write poems entitled “How to Remove Mistletoe from a Bois d’Arc Tree.”

My chapbook there deals with my romance with internal combustion.

  1. Elaine Palencia says:

Glad you were treated well by Dead Mule, who never replied to a story I sent or to follow-up queries later. Fortunately, I was able to publish it elsewhere.

  2. sherry says:

I’m sorry, Elaine. It was a loss on both sides.
