Day of the dead

I thought I’d re-post this retrospectively (you can go back in time if you have a blog) for Day of the Dead:

calaveras

The poem is mine; the artwork is by my son Tom C. Williams. The drawing hung at the Living Arts and Science Center, Lexington, Kentucky, in November of 2009 for their Festival Del Dia De Los Muertos and the poem was published at qarrtsiluni on April 7, 2010 along with a podcast of my reading.

I love that poem! Dammit, I wish I’d remembered it when Beth and I were sending in our nominations for Dzanc’s Best of the Web anthology last week. (Trying to pick just three things from a year of posts is a real recipe for frustration.)

Oh dear, Dave, I wish you’d remembered it too. But I do understand your dilemma. And anyway, many are nominated but frew etc.

Maybe I can send another some day that’s good enough for a nomination.
