  1. its funny when my husband and i discuss the healthcare debate i find myself using car insurance (which i worked in) as an example of how you can make insurance affordable. *sigh*

  2. Do you think private-sector health insurance can be made affordable, Jessie?

  3. LAWYERS.
It seems that the ambulance chasers (Tort Reform) isn’t part of the equation, frivolous law suits certainly drives up costs to those that pay their insurance premiums. (Like Car Insurance)

  4. I don’t know, Max. I’ve seen figures that say that frivolous law suits aren’t really what’s driving up the cost of malpractice insurance and I tend to view the ability to bring private suit as one way that the ordinary citizen can get justice. Look at what happened in the O.J. Simpson case — not that the two cases are necessarily comparable. It’s true that there are people who think a lawsuit is somehow free money, and it’s true that there are ambulance chasers, but I’d take some convincing before I wanted to adapt tort reform as a way to keep costs down.
