A.I.G. Planning Huge Bonuses After $170 Billion Bailout
WASHINGTON The American International Group, which has received more than $170 billion in taxpayer bailout money from the Treasury and Federal Reserve, plans to pay about $165 million in bonuses by Sunday to executives in the same business unit that brought the company to the brink of collapse last year.
Administration Is Open to Taxing Health BenefitsWASHINGTON The Obama administration is signaling to Congress that the president could support taxing some employee health benefits, as several influential lawmakers and many economists favor, to help pay for overhauling the health care system.

An about face? I know I don’t need to remind everyone this was a campaign issue, but I am. Some expect you should stand by your word. -

Max, here’s a post at By The Fault that deals with the complexities of this issue. It’s not a done deal yet, and I would hope they would find some other way to get the money. As one who has foregone a raise for several years so that health care costs could remain low, I tend to take this stuff pretty serious.
