A Valentine for the Mountains
(0)Two local protests of mountaintop removal mining schedule for this Saturday, February 14.
Walk to Stop Mountaintop Removal:
Ten Kentucky peace groups, environmental organizations, and faith organizations are sponsoring a a three-day “Walk to Stop Mountain Top Removal.” The march’s final leg is to the capitol building, where marchers will join Kentuckians For the Commonwealth’s “I Love Mountains Day” rally. After the rally, they will join other rally attendees to lobby their representatives against Mountain Top Removal and for the Stream Saver Bill.
Marchers will walk from church to church. Some of the walkers will spend the night at the churches.

“I Love Mountains” Old Time Music Showcase at Al’s Bar, 6th & Limestone; Lexington. 8:00 p.m. $5.00 cover goes to Kentuckians for the Commonwealth. Performers will include Clack Mountain String Band; Red State Ramblers; Rich and the Po’ Folks; The Travelin’ Snakes; Rayna Gellert & Jeff Keith. Special Guest: Kentucky Author Maurice Manning.
