  1. The video is really nicely bizarre. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Sling Blade, or if I did, it must have been so long ago that I don’t remember it. But I’ve always really liked that particular arrangement of Ring of Fire. And I have to agree that the 2001 Oxford American disc is probably the best one we ever got. That one, and maybe the first one we got (the one with June Carter Cash doing “The L&N Don’t Stop Here Anymore”) were my favorites of the lot.

  2. I have seen Sling Blade but I remember disliking it, not for the performance, but because I thought the ending was morally equivocal. On the other hand, I’d say it didn’t make that big an impression. Like Forrest Gump, it seemed all about the gimmick.
