  1. I get a lot of fretting down here. “Hillary should drop out, she’s destroying the Democratic Party.”
No she’s not, we’ve had much worse primary races, and in fact the last three or four have been just as vigorous as this one.
“Well, she’s driving off the independent voters.”
Oh, she’s the only one doing that? Howsabout the Obama crowd that’ll vote for McCain over Hillary?
“Well, she should just get out of the race for the good of the party.”
Oh, yeah, that’ll leave your boy sitting pretty, and I’m supposed to buy that that’s not a coincidence?
We’re having our very own low-key Civil War reenactment around the dinner table down here.
    November can’t come soon enough.

  2. Well, Tom, there’s a lot of excitement here in Kentucky that we’re actually going to get to cast a meaningful vote and so I don’t think the Democratic party has been hurt in this state anyway. Clintons are visiting at a prodigious rate — Bill was here last week, Hillary’s been here twice and is coming again, and tomorrow Chelsea is coming to UK. so far no Obama but it’s early days yet.

I’ve heard that Democrats are registering in grat numbers in Pennsylvania, too. And West Virginia is glad to be getting some attention. So Tennessee may be the only Appalachian state in the neighborhood who thinks this is all a bad thing.

  3. Like I said, I think it’s all fretting from Barack supporters and media pundits. They’ve sure got Hil’s best interests at heart, haven’t they? On the one hand, if Hillary drops out, Barack clinches the nom. On the other hand, if Hillary drops out, the pundits get to go niggra, niggra, niggra* like they’re obviously itching to do. Of course, if Hillary gets the nom, then they get to go ho, ho, ho so I’m not sure why they think they’d have lost.
*To quote Lyndon Johnson, who could always tell when it was election season in Texas.
