Katie Couric went to Baghdad…
…now will she come to Portsmouth?
Bill Clinton did, after all.
But looks like CBS is sending Steve Hartman.
From the Portsmouth Daily Times:
The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric is the latest media outlet to get involved in the Indian Head Rock controversy.
“The Portsmouth Indian Head Rock is getting a lot of attention as I suspected it would,” said Assistant Minority Leader Rep. Todd Book, D-McDermott, 89th District.
Book, who was interviewed on the subject several weeks ago when The New York Times was in town, met with the network Tuesday.
“Steve Hartman, whose feature ‘Assignment America’ is seen every Friday, was in town Tuesday,” Book said. “He shot about five hours of film and spent a lot of time with Steve Shaffer, Joe Stockham and me, and today (Wednesday) he is meeting with Reginald Meeks.”
…
“I don’t have an exact date as to when the feature will air on CBS, but I believe it will be around March 28, and then it will also be featured on their Sunday morning magazine program,” Book said. “I will be letting the people know as soon as an exact date is firmed up.”
By the way, I owe Charlie Whitt an apology. Yesterday I said he came from Flatwoods. I know better than that. Says Charlie:
Flatwoods! EEW YUK. Its South Shore, KY.
We are still trying to figure out why they called it South Shore, (of the river) instead of North Shore, (of the state)
Flatwoods is on the south side of the county, near Ashland.
Any way, as they say in politics, it’s not a deal breaker
I take that last to mean we’re still buddies. Whew! Thanks, Charlie.
