Congratulations to JimT!!

Here is a list of 2008 NEA grants to Kentucky.

Please note that the last name on the list is Jim Tomlinson, a member of the conversation here, a friend of mine, and living proof that you don’t have to be young with an MFA to get a literary career going.

Jim was awarded a $25,000 Fellowship.

This follows on his $10,000 Al Smith Fellowship from the Kentucky Arts Council and his Iowa Short Fiction Award in 2006.

Not only is he a first-class writer, he’s an all-round nice guy.

And so I take a moment to celebrate Jim — who will be reading and leading a New Books by Great Writers workshop at the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning in Lexington on December 13.
