Pot Pie for lunch

Well, you can figure that now I really have hit the bottom of the blogging barrel. But we did this pot pie as a family effort for lunch and it looked just about picture perfect, so I thought I’d share.

I did the crust and acted as prep cook, hubby made the roux because he’s just much better at that kind of stuff than I am.

It was tasty. And my undercrust wasn’t a bit soggy.

When I was a girl, Sam, I had a very ritualized way of eating those frozen pot pies — I would very, very careful eat the filling, but leave the crust intact. I ate the crust last, and very last I ate the brown outer rim of the crust. That was my favorite part. When I got finished, I left a perfectly clean little aluminum dish.

My version of licking the filling out of the Oreos I guess. I didn’t do that. I didn’t like Oreos all that much.

The nice thing about making your own crust is that you can make it very generous. The crust is still my favorite part of any pie.

That is beautiful. You never can tell what people will be interested in–my guess is most people would be interested in a pot pie that looks so good.

Thank you, Rebecca. I consider praise from you high praise indeed considering the projects you show us on Pocahontas County Fare.

Well, no, not one like Fafblog was featuring there, thank you!

And I agree about the crust being the tastiest part. Somehow I never can save the upper edge of the crust for last.

Did it taste as good as it looked?

And on a lighter note, there is apparently a petition to bring this quiz show to America. I think the petition is to get the episodes shown over here. I pray that they don’t make a knockoff hosted by Drew Carey or somesuch.

    Here’s the petition website.

Lighter than my pie crust, Tommy? Nothing could be lighter than my pie crust surely.

Lovely segment. Wish I could have understood the words to the song.
