My husband found this tree frog clinging like a bit of lichen to a length of old aluminum power cable that he’d cut loose from an outbuilding. The cable ran through some hackberry branches, which is how we figure the frog came to be there.
We transferred him to a huge old black locust beside our driveway and the result is as you see. Or don’t see. The leaves are caught up in a bit of old spider web between the bark and an old wrought iron trellis we had leaned up against the tree. That will give you some idea what a heavy-weight this guy is.
His discovery was a delightful surprise. I’d never seen one in the flesh and had no idea we had any in our yard. He had some lovely orange on his legs when he stretched them out to leap. And he was quite an athlete. We had put him down in the old aluminum galvanized steel trash can you see to try to snap a photo or two before releasing him and he was out of that thing in two leaps, clinging to the side like Spiderman on a skyscraper.
