Captain Blood

Ah, the Tasmanian Devil Errol Flynn —
so that’s where Dudley Dooright got his chin!

Worth it for the fencing match with Basil Rathbone, and also for seeing J. Carrol Naish as a swarthy French pirate. But it was “The Sea Hawk” that was featured in “The Goonies.”

I knew it. I’m coissed.
I guess I’ll have to try and find it around here.
I went to the local library yesterday afternoon because their online catalog said they had “Death Comes for the Fat Man,” but someone snagged it between the time I got off work and the time I got to the lieberry.
So I looked at their videos instead, hoping to find either “Cap’n Blood” or “The Goonies.” No love on either front that day. Now, if I had been looking for the Godfather movies, I’d have been in luck.
It sounds like you enjoyed the movie. I guess I’ll see it later.
Much love,
T

To quote your brother, “more fun than I’d expected” though completely inaccurate historically and incorrect politically. Always easy to blame the French. Novel written by Rafael Sabatini, who also wrote The Sea Hawk and Scaramouche.
They did it all on the back lot, using models for the sea battles. Think of that.
Did you know:
—Errol Flynn was Australian? Born in Tasmania.
—Basil Rathbone was known as the best fencer in Hollywood?
