Celebration of Life

James Burgett, as you know if you’ve been reading here for a while, is one of my very favorite photographers. His latest work, “Hook, Line, and Sinker,” has won honorable mention in Celebration of Life, a photography showcase for new and emerging photographers in Louisville.

Winning works will be displayed in local galleries, many of which are located in downtown Louisville, near landmarks such as the Louisville Slugger Museum, the Kentucky Museum of Arts and Crafts, and the Louisville Science Center. They will be displayed during the busy Kentucky Derby Festival season in April 2007.

I thought fourth place should have been the winner. Stunning! But that’s why all art is subjective, isn’t it. There is some fine work here. Thank you for posting it.

Hey Brooks! There is a whole story in that 4th place photo; it appeals to the poet in me. But I love the face in the first place winner. I do like black and white. I am, of course, partial to Jim’s photo and I like b&w of the three old women. But then old women, perhaps, have a special place in my heart, since I hope to become one.
