I love Randy Newman and Ry Cooder and this old “recorded live” from 1983 has both, plus Linda Ronstadt. So what more could a fan ask?
Cooder backs Newman up on a performance of “Let’s Burn Down the Corn Field” filled with hair-raising menace — mostly from a brooding slide guitar line, but Newman can play a pretty menacing piano riff too — and the trio on “Rider in the Rain” is just charming.

Sharp-eyed Elaine Palencia spotted this rather dangerous-looking fellow growing under a hickory tree at Blue Licks Battlefield State Park during the KSPS meeting there last weekend. She suggested it might make a blog-worthy subject and so here it is.
I am not fluent in mushroom. Anybody know who this guy is? (I think the masculine noun is appropriate here.)
