Cats and Cops
…Jury’s gaze was now fixed on the cat Cyril, who had been resting in the shallow curve of molding that hid the indirect lighting, little lights that traveled all around the ceiling. Cyril was sitting up, taking his victim’s measure: that would be CS Racer, of course, who was pacing back and forth. Cyril had lately enjoyed leaping not on him, but flying straight over Racer’s head and down. Cyril was revving up, but the door to the office needed to be open in order to escape. “Is that all? Sir?”
“What? Yes, yes.” Racer waved him out.
Jury opened the door and Cyril, in an amazing display of aeronautics, flew directly in front of Racer, landed and made for the door and lickety-split right under Fiona’s desk…

Hey, Charles. We do have a cat who doesn’t seem to mind the rain. His name is Peanut and you see him pictured here from time to time, usually sprawled somewhere. Though he is thirteen and arthritic, he is still a pretty good hunter. In his heyday, he was capable of bringing a full grown live rabbit to the back porch for praise. Anyway, hubby tells me he is of a type of cat called a smoke — he has a heavy white undercoat that keeps him from ever getting wet clear to the skin. And he don’t mind the weather if the wind don’t blow.
