Jazz & the Spoken Word
Wed Aug 16 — Louisville — Jazz and The Spoken Word returns to The Jazz Factory for its monthly appearance, featuring, among others, Bobbi Buchanan, editor and publisher of The New Southerner; Sarah Ferguson, journalist and poet, who will read from her work on Mountain Top Removal mining in southeastern Kentucky; Jeff Fearnside, writer in residence at Bernheim Arboretum, and Louisville writer David Owen, who recently visited Iran on a Fellowship of Reconciliation tour.
All readers will be accompanied by live improvisational jazz, performed by Brian Vinson on bass and Jacob Duncan on sax.
There’s no cover charge for the entire evening, which begins with Todd Hildreth at the jazz piano from 5 to 7 p.m. Special drink and appetizers are available at that time, too. Food is served from our regular menu throughout the evening.
Come for drinks, dinner, or dessert, but don’t miss this Jazz Factory “house special.”
The readings begin at 7:30p.m.
815 W Market St.

The one Spoken Word I saw at was probably the best reading I’ve ever attended. The club has a fantastic atmosphere and the musicians and staff were first rate. Wish I could be there for this one.
