On the day of Twelfth Night, I recommend to you Emily Lloyd’s gifts to the world on the Twelve Days of Christmas (give or take a few days):
The first day
The second day
The third
Fourth
Fifth
Tenth
Eleventh
The twelth day
What would you carry from your burning house?
I honestly can’t answer that question. It might be my book of manuscript poems…but more likely it would be a black tom cat.

but it’s just now Twelfth Night, so maybe there’s still time to give your loved one some Spray on Mud
If you’ve got a 4X4 or off-roader, Sprayonmud will send a message to anyone who disapproves or is just plain envious – you use your off-roader, off the road as well as on it.
Sprayonmud is NOT to be used to obscure number-plates or the lights on your vehicle. This, of course, is illegal and while it is not an endorsable offence, if your number plates cannot be read at a reasonable distance – or photographed by a speed camera – you could face a hefty fine.
Sprayonmud comes in an easy-to-use plastic bottle which is just the right size for hiding in a green Wellington boot. Keep it in your garage, car or anywhere you like. Sprayonmud can be applied to your vehicle in seconds, but just be careful the neighbours don’t catch you using it! And remember, you’ve been visiting friends in the country!
Only in England!
And as usual, thanks to Donna Marder.

from Silliman’s Blog:
Writing of the Jonathan Greene-Thomas Merton correspondence the day after Christmas took me to my swollen bookcase of books yet to be read where I had two volumes by Greene awaiting me, Of Moment & Fault Lines, the first by Greene’s own Gnomon Press, the latter by Broadstone, the same Kentucky press that issued the Merton-Greene collection. Both are good books that felt immediately familiar, not just because I’ve been reading Greene since shortly after he graduated from Bard roughly 40 years …
Read the rest for a good review and mini-history of our quiet poet over in Franklin County.
