Over at Heraclitean Fire, Harry Rutherford is trying to start a Flickr interesting photo meme, which goes like this:

Well, it’s not actually a meme unless anyone copies the idea, but hey-ho. Or at least, I guess technically it still is a meme, just an unsuccessful one. Don’t get me started on evolutionary theory.

Search Flickr for photos tagged with your first name. View them ordered as ‘most interesting’. Post the most interesting photo to your blog.

Group JumpNow this is all very well for Harry. His first name search yielded up a pretty little blue flower called the Dutch cuckoo flower. (I won’t speculate about this.) But when I search my first name, the “most interesting” photo is a group jump posted by some guy named Elston who seems to be interested in jumpology (which is sort of like Phoons, I guess).

Jerez Bodega Ent Ave MariaWhich only goes to prove what I’ve long suspected: that Sherry is a fine name for a sixteen-year-old cheerleader but not so hot perhaps for a sixty-year-old aspiring poet.

I was actually a bit more interested in the Sherry Cluster , which seems to have a more Horatian flavor, especially this jerez bodega photo, which not only features wine but also interesting architecture.

You should click through to Heraclitean Fire and check out the Mask of the Week feature. On the archive link I’ve provided here, you have to click on the individual posts, such as this one, to see the pictures.

  1. I quite like the group jump photo – it’s the expressions on their faces.

  2. My favorite is the girl third from the left — who isn’t up very high. Her, I identify with.

Meanwhile, it’s the jerez bodega for me.
