I’m off to the Poetry in Progress Retreat tomorrow, back late Sunday. Meantime, here are some things to contemplate:
Times-Picayune to Return to New Orleans in Two Weeks in Editor & Publisher
Why male mice feel urge to break out into song by Ian Sample in The Guardian (I picked up this link through Heraclitean Fire)
The Pablo Picasso Alzheimer’s Therapy by Randy Kennedy in the NYTimes
Diego Rivera Explains Commodity Fetishism post by Frank Joyce at TPMCafé
The Topography of Hell at BLDG BLOG, another link I picked up courtesy of Heraclitean Fire
And I’d be very remiss if I didn’t point you to the lyrics of the Shaft theme translated into Chaucerian English that I picked up via Poesy Galore and she picked up from My Tongue Broke Out in Unknown Strains

The current show up at Loudon House – through November 19 – is the Lexington Art League’s Reverse Raffle.
I tell you this because my husband, TR Williams, has donated a piece, entitled M’aidez, for the raffle. (And by the way, if you follow the link to his website, you can see how he uses that carving bowl that our cats like to take the sun in.) So have about 120 other local artists and craftsfolk.
Follow the link to learn how the raffle works. You can also see some photos of donated work on the page. If you think the $150 ticket price is steep, you should know that the LAL asked artists to donate pieces valued at at least $300. So you’d be getting a bargain.
Even if you can’t afford the price of a ticket, you should stop by and see the show. Gallery hours are Tuesday - Sunday, 1-4 p.m. Admission is free. Telephone 859-254-7024.
Photo of Loudon House by Photo by J. P. Fields. Prints available through the LAL. $75 unframed. I “borrowed” it, with permission, from their web site.
