It’s been a horrible week and it’s still happening. I am aghast at the extent to which it’s still happening.
But among all that’s appalling, there is still comfort to be found in the generosity of private citizens. An article in the NYTimes online today describes the extent to which individuals and businesses are giving.
All the individual good will in the world will not replace competent government action, but it is good to know that people are trying.
I heard the hoot owls this morning. They have lived on this place longer than I have, who have been here for 20 years. I always feel somehow comforted to hear them in the hour before dawn. “They endure.”
