Road Show
You may notice some changes on the page. I’ve been like a “No! me do it” two-year-old with this project, while Terry Kanago of Daily Troll web design has held my hand, cleaned up my messes, and praised me like any doting mother. Between us we’ve corrected a few of my design mis-steps and tweaked the interface with my “personal publishing platform,” WordPress. (Blogging is a form of self-publishing but that venue is more respectable than it used to be, and WordPress is a rather elegant free software if you’re ever tempted.) I’ll be working on the inside pages along and, while I’m at it, adding a few necessary refinements that I overlooked the first time through — same way I write a poem.
One of the refinements I’ve added on the “About” page is a link to the Ernie and Sherry Road Show. Back in October, Mary (Ernie) O’Dell and I took it on the road — to Cleveland, where we read at Mac’s Backs, a wonderful independent bookstore on Coventry. If you ever have call to be in Cleveland, I recommend Mac’s Backs and the whole Coventry Road scene. It’s a side of Cleveland you won’t see in television sitcoms and snarky songs by Randy Newman.
Jeff Hess, our host and ad-hoc agent for this sexagenarian road show (hey! Mick Jagger does it), was kind and innovative enough to record our reading and post it over at his own blog, Have Coffee, Will Write. Talk about your thrills!
Jeff, a Green River Writers member, is a novelist, an editor, a teacher, and an excellent blogger. He was very active in the recent presidential election – before and after – and has done some great reporting about the local action in Cleveland. Add his site to your bookmarks – or follow my link and check it out.
